Metallica announce £230 ‘Load’ boxset boasting 245 unreleased tracks

Metallica will celebrate the 29th anniversary of their sixth studio album ‘Load’ this summer by releasing a remastered edition of the album including a gargantuan boxset.

Originally released on 4th June 1996, ‘Load’ saw James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Jason Newsted move away from their thrash metal roots and embrace hard rock sounds.Almost three decades on, ‘Load’ has been remastered by Reuben Cohen at Lurssen Mastering with Greg Fidelman overseeing, and it will be re-released on a variety of formats on Friday 13th June via Metallica’s own Blackened Recordings. You can pre-order it here.

The revamped version of ‘Load’ contains fan favourites including ‘Until It Sleeps’, ‘Hero of the Day’, and ‘King Nothing’, and for the first time ever, the original extended version of ‘The Outlaw Torn’ that was originally edited due to manufacturing limits will come with the deluxe formats.

Both ’Until It Sleeps’ and ‘King Nothing’ have made setlists on Metallica’s current M72 World Tour.
