Rapper Tay-K Convicted in Second Murder Case

On April 14, 2025, rapper Taymor McIntyre, known as Tay-K, was convicted of murder for the second time in Bexar County, Texas. The 24-year-old, already serving a 55-year sentence for a 2016 murder during a home invasion, now faces an additional 5 to 99 years for the 2017 shooting death of 23-year-old photographer Mark Anthony Saldivar in San Antonio.

Prosecutors stated that McIntyre, while fleeing authorities after cutting off his ankle monitor, lured Saldivar into a vehicle under the pretense of a photoshoot. Saldivar was robbed of his camera equipment at gunpoint and fatally shot after attempting to escape. The jury found McIntyre guilty of murder but not capital murder, sparing him a mandatory life sentence.

This conviction adds to McIntyre’s legal troubles, stemming from a turbulent period marked by his viral song “The Race,” recorded while on the run. The track, which detailed his criminal activities, peaked at number 44 on the Billboard Hot 100. As the sentencing phase begins, the case continues to spark discussions about crime, fame, and accountability in the music industry.
